Leah Gilbert Morris is an international trade finance pro-fessional with more than two decades of experienceworking at the intersection of export credit, international relations, and environment, social and governance (ESG),and currently serves as Vice-President of Public Affairs & International Relations at Export Development Canada (EDC).As a key member of EDC’s senior management team, Leah is responsible for contributing to the development, socialization and communication of a broad suite of organizational priorities, policies and long-term strategy.
She oversees the advancement of EDC’s critical relationships with the Canadian Government, global Export Credit Agencies and multilateral organizations, and other external stakeholders including those from industry and civil society, leveraging these relationships to advance thought leadership and to enable EDC to better serve the market. Internationally, she steers EDC’s negotiations of key trade rules and other agreements to ensure outcomes that represent the interests of Canada and Canadian business.
In addition to more than 20 years’ experience at EDC and its subsidiary, FinDev Canada, Leah has previously served in the Canadian government (International Trade; Finance) and has prior experience in the Canadian commercial banking industry and two multilateral development finance institutions – the IFC (D.C.) and Caribbean Development Bank (Barbados). Leah has a Master’s Degree in Geography and Environmental Studies with concentration in Public Policy, and a Bachelor of Environmental Science with a Minor in Economics (Hon.) from Carleton University.
